Shannon became the centre of attention with its Supercheap Auto Spectacular Car Show held at the Buckley Golf Club
Hundreds of classic and muscle cars rolled into town , with owners showing off all types cars.
Held in Shannon since 2004, it attracted over 700 vehicles from around the North Island, from as far away as Whangārei. It had grown from a small idea to a huge event that attracts participants and public from far and wide. In the past the association has held antiques sales, collectibles events, concerts and auctions to raise money but none have been as successful as the Car Spectacular.
